To get a perfect job in fashion, apparel and textile industry or any other sectors, some preparation are needed. In this article I will discuss about preparation to get a job in fashion and textile industry.
Preparation to Get Job in Fashion and Textile Industry:
Now I will give some basic requirements and preparation to get a job in fashion and apparel industry.
- To prepare a CV
- Covering letter and application forms
- Interviews
- Portfolio
These points are shortly explained in below:
A. To prepare a CV:
- CV is the main preparation to get a job. Some tips to make a perfect CV.
- CVs should be clearly legible and professionally presented, on a maximum of two A4 pages.
- Paper should be of good quality, but not brightly- colored, bearing in mind that it may need to be faxed, scanned or photocopied.
- The first page needs t be interesting enough to hold the potential employers attention and make them want to read further.
- CV should be adapted to suit the job or company. For example, if the post is for women’s wear, put your women’s wear project from college at the top of the list of course content. This extra effort could potentially be deciding factor in gaining an interview.
- CVs should begin with factual details including name, present and permanent address. Date of birth, phone number and email address. Educational details should then be listed in reverse chronological order, with start and finish dates.
- Add the major relevant subjects studied within the course.
- Other qualification, experience and two references must be added.
B. Covering letter and application forms:
Covering letter is the first impression that the company has of you. You may be asked to apply in writing for certain jobs, in which case you should include a covering letter and CV unless specified otherwise- some employers now use only online application forms and recruitment literature. A4 size page are preferable.
C. Interviews:
Many interviews involve panels of interviewers, usually including the line manager for the post and at least one other member of stuff, such as a senior colleague from the same department or HR. Some companies organized at least two interview stages, with the best candidates from the initial interviews being invited back for a second interview.
Suggestion to improve interview:
- Keep up to date information about fashion and textile industry. Fashion and current trends knowledge by reading trade, garments and fashion top magazines and different related websites.
- Consider which skills and abilities the employer is seeking.
- Reed your application and CV again before the interview as a reminder of the information you have given about yourself.
- Plan and practices appropriate responses to question.
- Think positively, as you have been short-listen for the position.
D. Portfolio:
A portfolio of work is essential at interviews for designers, illustration and stylists but is rarely requested for most other jobs within the fashion and apparel industry. The portfolio content to show your skills to their best effect with a range of media and work aimed at various market levels, tailoring the content to the job for which you are applying.
